This policy explains how FlowCast handles information when you select media, cast to a receiver, use playback features, or contact support.
Who we are
FlowCast (package com.xuark.cast) is an Android video-casting app provided by Xuark Technologies. This policy explains how the app handles information when you select videos, connect to a receiver, control playback, or ask for support. Contact us at admin@xuark.com.
Videos and subtitles you choose
FlowCast uses Android's file picker to access the video and optional subtitle files you select. It reads file names, types, sizes, durations, document references, and the content needed for playback or preparation. It can retain permission to access selected documents so that supported sessions can resume. It does not request unrestricted access to your entire media library. Your document provider may have its own privacy practices, particularly if you select a file stored in a cloud service.
When you start casting, FlowCast sends the selected media and relevant playback information to your chosen compatible receiver over your local network. This is necessary to play that content on the receiver. FlowCast does not upload your selected videos or subtitles to a Xuark Technologies media-hosting service. The receiving device and any services it uses are governed by their own privacy practices.
Devices and local network information
FlowCast discovers compatible DLNA and Google Cast receivers and uses information such as receiver names, identifiers, model details, supported capabilities, and network addresses to establish and manage casting sessions. The app also monitors network availability so that it can respond to connection changes. These operations are used for casting, not to determine your precise geographic location.
On-device preparation and saved sessions
When necessary, FlowCast prepares supported media on your phone and creates temporary or reusable prepared files in its private storage. It does not modify or delete the original documents you selected. Prepared media is excluded from Android backup by its storage location and may be removed as storage is managed.
The app saves session information, which can include document references and names, the selected receiver, playback position, and connection details, to support recovery or resuming playback. Android backup and device-transfer services may copy eligible app settings and session information according to your system configuration. Those services are provided by your operating-system or device provider.
Google Cast and third-party components
FlowCast includes the Google Cast Android Sender SDK. Google documents that this SDK sends anonymous information about discovery, sessions, the mobile device, the client app, and SDK usage to Google to improve Cast reliability and performance. Google states that SDK telemetry is encrypted in transit and that the app developer and user cannot opt out of or delete that SDK data through the SDK.
For details, see Google's Cast SDK data disclosure at https://developers.google.com/cast/docs/android_sender/data_disclosure and Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy. FlowCast also includes components for networking and on-device media preparation. This app version does not include advertising, in-app purchases, or a FlowCast account system.
Diagnostics and support
FlowCast keeps bounded diagnostic event logs in its local cache. A diagnostic export can include event categories, outcomes, timestamps, Android version, and device manufacturer/model. If you choose Share diagnostics, Android lets you select the app and recipient for the report. The app does not automatically send these diagnostic exports to Xuark Technologies.
If you email us, we receive your email address, your message, and any attachments you choose to send. We use that information to respond to your request and investigate the issue. Avoid including videos or personal information that is not necessary for support. Ask us at admin@xuark.com if you want support correspondence deleted; we will address the request subject to applicable retention obligations.
Permissions and background operation
Network and Wi-Fi capabilities support receiver discovery, media delivery, and playback control. A foreground service and playback notification keep a user-started casting or preparation task visible while it runs. The app may ask for notification permission. If you select the background-playback setting, Android may ask whether to exempt FlowCast from battery restrictions. These choices are controlled through Android and can be changed in system settings.
Security and transfers
Local media delivery uses HTTP for receiver compatibility and is not end-to-end encrypted. Use a network and receiver you trust. A session access token helps limit access to the media endpoint, but it does not encrypt the connection. SDK telemetry uses the transport protections documented by its provider. We do not claim that every transmission made by the app is encrypted.
When you choose a receiver or share a diagnostic report, information goes to that selected destination. Providers such as Google, your document provider, your device's backup service, or your email provider may process information in other countries under their own terms and policies.
Retention and your choices
Stop casting in the app or through its notification to end an active session. Use Android's app storage settings to clear FlowCast's data or uninstall the app to remove its local settings, saved sessions, and prepared files from that installation. Clearing app data does not delete your original videos or subtitles, content already delivered to a receiver, copies you exported, or backups held by your system provider. Manage backup copies through the relevant backup provider.
Local diagnostic logs rotate as they grow. Prepared media is managed within the app's storage budget and is not promised to be erased immediately after every session. Support information is retained while needed to handle your request, maintain relevant records, or meet legal obligations. We cannot identify or delete Google's anonymous SDK telemetry on your behalf.
You may contact admin@xuark.com with privacy questions or applicable access, correction, or deletion requests concerning information Xuark Technologies holds.
Children
FlowCast is a general-purpose tool for casting files chosen by the user. It does not provide child profiles, a child-directed content catalogue, or a registration form. If you believe a child has sent personal information directly to Xuark Technologies, contact admin@xuark.com so we can review and address it. The content played through FlowCast is selected by the user.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app's behavior or our practices change. The date at the top identifies the latest revision. The current version will be available on this page.
